SSI Nitrox Diver
The SSI Nitrox Diver Specialty course is an essential certification for all divers as it allows divers to extend their no-decompression limits (NDL’s). Thinking of taking a wreck course? Do it on NItrox! Thinking of doing a cavern course? Do it on Nitrox! Thinking of going Diving? Do it on Nitrox!
Once considered the “first” step into Technical Diving Nitrox is now mainstream and that liveaboard or wreck dive just wouldn’t be the same without it. With the benefits come some additional protocols and driver responsibilities but the gain in dive time is well worth it! Nitrox can also be combined with almost any other course in which case we may be able to offer a discount.

Itinerary
Your SSI Nitrox Diver Course starts with meeting your Big Blue Tech Instructor, grabbing a coffee from our beachside restaurant and settling in for the morning, initially we complete paperwork and review the online academics. Your instructor will then highlight all the pertinent points and ensure a thorough understanding of Nitrox theory before conducting the practical assignments of analysing your Nitrox, labelling your tanks and understanding your computer.

What will I learn on the course?
Yor Big Blue Tech instructor will take you through:
- Physiology of using different breathing gas mixtures and equipment considerations for using nitrox
- How to safely use nitrox mixtures up to 40 percent with a dive computer
- Advantages and disadvantages of utilizing nitrox mixtures, how to analyze a nitrox mixture
And an insight into Nitrox in the Tech diving realm.
Will I be able to dive this certification with Big Blue Tech after the course?
Absolutely, We encourage all of our newly certified students to get back in the water and enjoy their new certifications. We’ll provide a Nitrox certified Dive Master to accompany you but you’ll also be part of the planning process and gain more experience of being a leader and not a passenger on dives.

All the required equipment is included in the course:
- All materials and certification costs on successful completion
- Backmount total diving system (or sidemount / twinset if certified)
- Fins (Students are required to have boots if they wish to use open healed fins)
- Exposure suit
- Mask
