Itinerary
Day 1: The Technical Mindset & Equipment Foundations
Your transition into the world of technical diving begins with a focused first day, perfectly balancing elite-level dive theory with intensive, hands-on pool mastery.
Morning: Technical Theory & Philosophy
We kick off the morning by meeting your Big Blue Tech Instructor at our beachside restaurant. Over a coffee, we’ll take care of the paperwork and review your online academics.
Your instructor will guide you through the fundamental core principles of technical diving, focusing on:
The Technical Mindset: Understanding the psychological shifts, situational awareness, and strict self-discipline required for technical diving activities.
Equipment Configurations: Exploring the philosophy behind technical gear setups and understanding why every component has a precise place.
Gas Management & Planning: Introduction to technical gas choices, consumption tracking, and calculating critical safety reserves.
Afternoon: Twinset Mastery & Critical Pool Drills
Following a lunch break, we head up to our training pool to strap on a technical twinset for your first intensive practical session. The absolute focus of this session is building a flawless foundation of stability and control.
Under the guidance of your instructor, you will practice and perfect:
Buoyancy & Horizontal Trim: Finding your “sweet spot” to remain perfectly weightless and stable in a fixed water column.
Specialized Finning Techniques: Mastering the frog kick, modified flutter, helicopter turns, and back-kicking for precise positioning.
Valve Shutdown Drills: Learning how to manipulate your manifold valves to isolate and manage simulated equipment emergencies.
Safety & Backup Protocols: Practicing out-of-air (OOA) drills, deploying backup equipment, and mastering efficient Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) deployment from depth.
Evening: Debrief & Logs
Then it’s back to the Tech shack for a comprehensive debrief with your instructor. You can review your progress from the pool, talk through any gear adjustments for the next day, and unwind with a cold drink.
Here is the polished, web-ready version for Day 2 of your TDI Intro to Tech course, keeping that perfect relaxed-yet-professional vibe.
Day 2: Advanced Land Drills & First Twinset Ocean Dives
With the pool session complete, Day 2 is where we take your new skills into the open water, transitioning your twinset control from the pool to the ocean.
Morning: Dive Planning & Advanced Land Drills
Once again with coffee in hand and enjoying the gentle sea breeze, you’ll meet your instructor to wrap up the academics. We will focus heavily on technical dive planning, execution parameters, and strict pre-dive team protocols.
Before the lunch break, we will conduct hands-on land drills to dial in your muscle memory for the afternoon:
Lift Bag & SMB Execution: Mastering the physical mechanics of deploying a lift bag from the ground up.
Technical Buddy Checks: Practicing rigorous, systematic team checks (GUE-EDGE / S-Drills) on land.
Afternoon: Twinset Open Water Dives 1 & 2
After lunch, we board the Big Blue Tech boat for your first two technical open water dives, putting your training to the test in the marine environment.
Dive 1 (Skills & Buoyancy Precision): This initial dive gives you the opportunity to practice the precision buoyancy, horizontal trim, and specialized finning techniques you learned in the pool. Under your instructor’s guidance, you will also execute basic regulator and mask skills, valve shutdown drills, and a live SMB deployment from depth.
Dive 2 (Building Confidence): Your second ocean session gives you the chance to relax a little and truly enjoy the stable, balanced feeling of twinset diving. We will conduct brief skills reviews as required, focusing on making your movements fluid and natural in the water column.
Evening: Debrief
Back on land, your instructor will conduct a comprehensive final debrief to review your success over the last two days. With your technical foundation officially laid and your TDI Intro to Tech certification secured, it’s time to grab a celebratory drink at the bar and watch the sunset with the team.
